And the Aussies, to a man, raised their cork-rimmed hats and cracked a cold one when they got an eyeful of the spectacular total chrome wrap that Ryan Travis and his team created for the classic Radical SR3 road-legal track car.
They not only worked their regular magic with the difficult chrome material on the hard, angular FI shapes of the SR3, but they also worked against the clock to make sure it was ready to fly round the world for its crowd-wowing appearance on Top Gear Down Under.
Ryan said: “It really was a rush job. The car had to be air-freighted to Australia for its TV appearance and, if we had missed the slot, it would have cost the owners thousands of pounds, not to mention the chance to be the star of the show".
“The team pulled out all the stops. The job should have taken the best part of a week, but because of the unalterable deadline, they managed to create a perfect finish in just three days – including two very long nights. But the end result was worth the effort.”
Jamie Robinson, of Radical, came to Ryan and Perry because of their reputation for quality, attention to detail and delivering promises. He said: “I was well aware that it was a rush job, but I knew that if anyone could transform the SR3 the way we wanted, Totally Dynamic could".
“They didn’t disappoint us. Chrome is a hard material to work with, since it doesn’t bend easily, and the SR3 is all bends and aerodynamic angles. But the boys at Lincoln worked at it until they were Totally satisfied. Good on yer, cobbers.”
